For <a href=\"https:\/\/www.demers-ambulances.com\/ca-en\/ambulance-fleet-technical-services\/vehicle-upfitting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">specialized vehicle modifications requiring certification<\/a>, however, it turns to the manufacturer\u2019s expertise.\u00a0When a change in mobile technology required new computer mounting pockets across 36 ambulances, the installation had to meet Ontario Ministry of Health requirements. Halton chose Demers Customer Care for the retrofit.<\/p><p>Our new Ontario service centre in Bolton, about 40 minutes from Halton, made that OEM expertise available locally. Halton could bring in vehicles as operational schedules allowed.<\/p><p><strong>The project at a glance<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><strong>36 ambulances<\/strong> retrofitted<\/li><li><strong>1\u20135 vehicles<\/strong> brought in at a time<\/li><li>Approximately <strong>one month<\/strong> to complete the fleet<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2a0058d3 elementor-blockquote--skin-border elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"2a0058d3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\t\u201cAnything involving certification is where we want the experts involved. Coordinating planned work across several vehicles therefore requires careful scheduling.<\/p><p>Whenever possible, Halton schedules vehicle modifications when ambulances are already available or undergoing regular maintenance. Spare vehicles are also strategically positioned throughout the region to help maintain operations while work is being completed.<\/p><p>The retrofit project followed the same approach. We would let the team know we were coming, show up with the truck, and they were ready for us. About half an hour later, we could be driving back out. Proximity and flexible scheduling enabled the fleet-wide retrofit without disrupting existing operations.<\/p><p>The experience also offers a useful takeaway for other paramedic fleet teams planning similar work.
