Increasing our ambulance production capacity to better support EMS

As Canada’s population ages, how do we ensure there are enough safe and dependable ambulances on the road to transport patients and equip paramedics with the tools they need? As your trusted ambulance manufacturer, this question guides every decision we make. We recognize that each ambulance delivered is far more than a vehicle. It is a piece of critical equipment that must support patients during moments of vulnerability and allow paramedics to work with confidence, precision and safety. This is why we continue to expand our ambulance production capacity and innovate, guided by the needs of paramedics.

New ambulance production supported by innovation

As demand for prehospital services continues to grow, having access to new ambulances delivered on time is critical. To address this reality, we are doubling our ambulance production capacity to deliver more vehicles faster and support communities more effectively. At Demers, new ambulance production takes place in Beloeil in a 63,000 square foot facility, dedicated to building reliable and compliant vehicles for EMS services.

This production capacity is further strengthened by the Demers innovation centre, a 5,500 square foot space supported by a team focused on continuous improvement, design evolution, and the integration of new solutions. Together, production and innovation work hand in hand to ensure that every new ambulance meets the highest safety and quality standards while supporting the evolving needs of paramedics and the communities they serve.

Reduced lead times through focused remount operations

Whether a customer receives a new ambulance or a remounted one, our promise remains the same. We deliver a reliable and compliant vehicle within a clear and predictable timeline. Last month, we announced a meaningful improvement. With enhanced processes, modernized facilities, and the exceptional work of our teams, we reduced remount lead times to nine months in Beloeil and six months in Saskatoon.

This progress is the result of a sustained collective effort. By strengthening every step of our production workflow and continuously refining inspection and engineering procedures, we ensure that a remount upholds the same safety and quality standards as a new vehicle.

In Quebec, remount operations are concentrated at the remount centre in Beloeil. This 16,000 square foot facility is supported by a dedicated team of employees focused exclusively on completing remounts efficiently and safely. This structure reduces vehicle downtime and helps return ambulances to service faster, allowing paramedics to stay focused on patient care. Between the production and remount facilities, there are a total of 430 employees making sure that your vehicles are delivered on time and industry-compliant.

In Western Canada, a 111,000-square-foot production facility dedicated to ambulance manufacturing and the remount centre, operating within a 15,000-square-foot facility, are supported by a team of over 400 employees.
